Lindsay Crowned – Again!

The 2005 Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship drew to a close on Sunday with a familiar name on top of the leader board - one that has been there twice before in the 11 year history of the tournament. Although Dave Lindsay has won the big prize before (1995 & 1997) this is the first time he has shared the podium with this father Lee.

“It was really special sharing this with my dad,” Dave commented, “and I am really proud to be up here with my brother Norm as well.” Dave and Lee, with a three day total catch of 51.61lbs edged out Norm Lindsay and his partner Bill Godin who netted a total of 50.32lbs. Day two leaders Mark Libitka and Dave Bennett slipped to third spot overall with 50.25lbs.

All three top teams call Northwestern Ontario home.

The biggest fish of the tournament was caught by Steve Luhman and Glen Getschell of Wisconsin weighing in at 5.30lbs. The one-day big catch was claimed by last year’s champion James Lindner and his partner Mike Hehner with 21.10lbs.

Team after team heaped praise upon the community of Fort Frances, tournament organizers and the many volunteers who dedicate countless hours to making the event a huge success year after year. In his closing remarks Chairman Doug Cain promised the tournament would be back in 2006 “bigger and better than ever.”
